Curious#
Attentive, observant and focused#
A team can probably always solve a conflict. But only the best teams can get to its source. They have someone who does not stop at a superficial treatment. The Curious wants to get to the bottom of a problem. They want to understand the mechanics that led to the current situation. The crew might benefit from this the next time they encounter a similar issue.
When you play a Curious, you earn XP when you solved conflict through research or investigation. Tweak the ship’s sensors to obtain even the tiniest bit of information! Bring your hidden camera to the meeting with the corporation’s boss! Rerun the calculation a fifth time with increased accuracy! Where there is no data, you collect it. You turn it into information for your advantage.
Why? you kept asking as a kid. And you listened to the answer. That’s how you learned to learn. Knowledge is your way to handle situations.

If you want some guidance when you assign your four starting action dots and special ability, use one of these templates.

Friends and foes#
Gnaea Gogunov, a small company owner. Perhaps a manipulator in the background, or access to cheap goods.
Leo Falk, a musician. Perhaps the buddy from the gym, or the pretty boy who steals too many lave affairs.
Natalia Volkova, a corporation scientist. Perhaps she always provides intel and small jobs, or since her change to that megacorp she denies her former friends.
Rupert Blissett, a very modern person. Perhaps a connoisseur of high tech you love to talk shop to, or a provider of false - but well faked - information.
Sophie Lefevre, a ganger. Perhaps you are bound by mutual obligations, or her gang has beef with you.
Curious special abilities#
Analyst#
During downtime, you get two ticks to distribute among any long term project clocks that involve investigation or learning a new formula or design plan.
This does not require to perform a downtime activity but happens on the fly.
Knowledge#
When you gather information via research or investigation you get +1 effect. You get +1d when resisting to being lied to.
You can easily glue together facts. This also allows you to observe the small holes left in made up stories.
Spy Eye#
You have a device installed that can record your vision and might give you additional information on visual clues.
This might be a cybernetic eye replacement or just something bolted to your skull. You could have an AR overlay, Zoom included or infrared vision.
I read about this#
Take 2 stress to roll your best action rating while performing a different action. Say how you adapt your skill.
This is the “jack-of-all-trades” ability. If you want to attempt lots of different sorts of actions and still have a good dice pool to roll, this is the special ability for you.
Saboteur#
When you Wreck, your work is much quieter than it should be and the damage is very well-hidden from casual inspection.
You can drill holes in things, melt stuff with acid, even use a muffled explosive, and it will all be very quiet and extremely hard to notice.
Xeno Entomologist#
You gain an additional XP trigger: Mark XP when your curiosity for alien technology or xeno fauna caused trouble for the mission.
Maybe you’re working on a scientific paper or an encyclopedia. Maybe you just want to learn. You put this goal over your team’s.
Scout#
When you gather information to discover the location of a target, you get +1 effect. When you hide in a prepared position or use camouflage you get +1d to rolls to avoid detection.
A “target” can be a person, a destination, a good ambush spot, an item, etc.
Divert#
You may expend your special armor to create a false lead when you try to avoid being trailed, or to push yourself for a feat of athletics or stealth.
If you “resist a consequence” of the appropriate type, you avoid it completely. If you use this ability to push yourself, you get one of the benefits (+1d, +1 effect, act despite severe harm) but you don’t take 2 stress.
When you use this ability, tick the special armor box on your playbook sheet. Your special armor is restored at the beginning of downtime.
